HI FRIENDS! RAISE YOUR HAND IF YOU LOVE SUMMER?!

Here in Texas, these April showers better be bringing the most beautiful May flowers!! We are excited and expectant!

With Summer quickly approaching, I want to do a quick review of some of my favorite SPF lotions and best practices for applying them! 

LET’S START WITH SOME SUNSCREEN 101

1. Sunscreens fall into two categories (physical and mineral)

2. Apply liberally to any areas of the body that will be exposed to the skin, especially your beautiful face!

NEXT, SUNSCREEN APPLICATION

- Sunscreen should be the last step of your skincare routine. You want it to allow it to absorb before starting with your makeup.

- If you're outside and in the water, SPF needs to be reapplied every 2 hours. 

- If you're not sure how to reapply your SPF without disrupting your makeup, it's actually really easy! A powder or spray SPF can easily be layered on top of makeup.  These are my favorite for reapplying. 

A FEW OTHER NOTES

- Remember SPF in your makeup alone is not enough! You would need to apply a TON of foundation for the SPF present in the product to be enough to protect your skin.

- A good rule of thumb is you need about a shot glass of sunscreen for your whole body, which works out to about a teaspoon for your face. 

- It’s highly recommended to wear at least an SPF 30 - personally, I like to use an SPF of at least 50.
